Job summary

Veolia UK in Norwich is recruiting a Depot Operations Coordinator to uphold Quality, Health, Safety and Environment as the top priority in transport operations. You will manage daily service delivery, plan routes, communicate with customers, and support drivers throughout the day.

The role requires understanding of transport compliance (WTD), strong communication, and the ability to organise a busy workload with ISO QMS and IT skills.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of transport compliance and Working Time Directive (WTD).
  • Excellent communication with drivers, frontline staff and customers.
  • Ability to organise a busy workload and operate at pace; familiarity with ISO QMS and IT tools (Google).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environment remain the top priority in transport operations.
  • Manage daily service delivery, including dynamic routing, customer communication and driver liaison.
  • Deliver service excellence: on-time deliveries, handling missed lifts, and proactive feedback within company parameters.
  • Assist to identify routing efficiencies and depot capacity.
  • Lead toolbox talks for drivers and operatives.
  • Conduct investigations into accidents and incidents as directed by the Service Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with Operator Licence obligations and monitor driver performance and leave entitlements.
  • Collaborate with the Service Manager to achieve depot KPIs.
  • Log safety concerns and near misses in Ecoonline and close them per policy.

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM

What you'll be doing;
  • Ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environment remains the number one priority within the transport operation, providing a safe workplace for employees
  • Manage the service delivery on a daily basis, including the dynamic planning of work to vehicles / routes, proactively communicating with customers, maintaining contact with drivers throughout the day, and undertaking debriefs
  • Ensure that Service excellence is delivered, this includes:
    • Delivery of service.
    • Recovery (next working day) and communication of non-service/missed lifts
    • within company parameters
    • Assist the Service Manager to identify routing efficiencies and capacity.
    • Effective container stock level control and customer and driver communication
  • Assist the Service Manager to ensure People management processes and procedures are adhered to in line with company policies.
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks to drivers and operatives
  • Conduct first stage formal investigations into accidents and incidents as directed by the Service Manager
  • Adhere to and comply with all aspects of Operator Licence obligations
  • Manage the day to day activities of all drivers at the depot including compliance,
  • performance and leave entitlements
  • Work closely with the Service Manage to deliver depot KPI’s
  • Ensure that all safety concerns and near misses are logged on Ecoonline and closed off within the company’s agreed timescales and quality feedback is provided to originators
What we're looking for;
Essential:
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of transport compliance and WTD
  • Good communication skills communicating with people of all levels including drivers, frontline employees and customers
  • Ability to organise a busy workload and operate at a fast pace Working with a quality management system e.g. ISO Managing transport compliance. Experienced IT Skills, and the ability to adapt to Google operating systems
Desirable:
  • Previous experience operating within a similar industry; waste/transport/logistics
