Job summary

Veolia UK is looking for a Depot Transport Coordinator to oversee daily transport operations in Hinckley. You’ll ensure safety, service delivery and driver coordination, while maintaining regulatory compliance and close liaison with the Service Manager.

The role emphasizes proactive planning, incident investigations and achieving depot KPIs, with opportunities for development and a strong emphasis on employee wellbeing and a supportive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and promote QHSE at all times.
• Manage daily service delivery, plan routes, communicate with customers and drivers.
• Deliver service excellence: answer calls, manage missed lifts and coordinate communications.
• Identify routing efficiencies and monitor capacity with the Service Manager.
• Oversee driver management, conduct toolbox talks and incident investigations.
• Ensure compliance with Operator Licence and depot KPIs.
• Log safety concerns and near misses in Eco online and close on timescales.

What you'll be doing;

• Ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environment remains the number one priority within the transport operation, providing a safe workplace for employees.
• Manage the service delivery on a daily basis, including the dynamic planning of work to vehicles / routes, proactively communicating with customers, maintaining contact with drivers throughout the day, and undertaking debriefs
• Ensure that Service excellence is delivered, this includes:
  • Delivery of service
  • Taking customer phone calls
  • Recovery (next working day) and communication of non-service/missed lifts
  • within company parameters.
  • Assist the Service Manager to identify routing efficiencies and capacity.
  • Effective container stock level control and customer and driver communication.
• Assist the Service Manager to ensure People management processes and procedures are adhered to in line with company policies.
• Deliver Toolbox Talks to drivers and operatives
• Conduct first stage formal investigations into accidents and incidents as directed by the Service Manager
• Adhere to and comply with all aspects of Operator Licence obligations
• Manage the day to day activities of all drivers at the depot including compliance, performance and leave entitlements
• Work closely with the Service Manage to deliver depot KPI’s
• Ensure that all safety concerns and near misses are logged on Eco online and closed off within the company’s agreed timescales and quality feedback is provided to originators

What we're looking for;

Essential:

• Able to demonstrate an understanding of transport compliance and WTD
• Good communication skills communicating with people of all levels including drivers, front line employees and customers
• Ability to organise a busy workload and operate at a fast pace Working with a quality management system e.g. ISO Managing transport compliance. Experienced IT Skills, and the ability to adapt to Google operating systems

Desirable:

• Previous experience operating within a similar industry; waste/transport/logistics
