Job summary

Veolia in Hinckley (LE10) is seeking a proactive transport operations supervisor to lead daily depot activities with safety and compliance at the forefront.

You will plan routes, coordinate drivers and communications, monitor service levels and drive improvements to deliver reliable, cost‑effective transport services while maintaining a positive customer experience. The role includes training, development opportunities and a supportive team culture.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of transport compliance and WTD.
  • Strong communication with drivers, frontline staff and customers.
  • Ability to organise a busy workload and work at a fast pace.
  • Experience with quality management systems and IT tools.
  • Proficiency with Google operating systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environment remains the priority in transport operations.
  • Manage daily service delivery, plan routes, and communicate with customers and drivers.
  • Deliver service excellence: respond to calls, manage recoveries, and communicate within company parameters.
  • Assist the Service Manager to identify routing efficiencies and capacity.
  • Control container stock levels and liaise with customers and drivers.
  • Support People management processes and training delivery to staff.
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks to drivers and operatives.
  • Conduct first stage investigations into accidents and incidents as directed.
  • Adhere to Operator Licence obligations.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of all drivers at the depot including leave entitlements.
  • Work with Service Manager to achieve depot KPI's.
  • Log safety concerns and near misses in Eco online and close out timely.
  • Update workload/planner

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM

What you'll be doing
  • Ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environment remains the number one priority within the transport operation, providing a safe workplace for employees.
  • Manage the service delivery on a daily basis, including the dynamic planning of work to vehicles / routes, proactively communicating with customers, maintaining contact with drivers throughout the day, and undertaking debriefs
  • Ensure that Service excellence is delivered, this includes:
    • Delivery of service
    • Taking customer phone calls
    • Recovery (next working day) and communication of non-service/missed lifts
    • within company parameters.
  • Assist the Service Manager to identify routing efficiencies and capacity.
  • Effective container stock level control and customer and driver communication.
  • Assist the Service Manager to ensure People management processes and procedures are adhered to in line with company policies.
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks to drivers and operatives
  • Conduct first stage formal investigations into accidents and incidents as directed by the Service Manager
  • Adhere to and comply with all aspects of Operator Licence obligations
  • Manage the day to day activities of all drivers at the depot including compliance, performance and leave entitlements
  • Work closely with the Service Manage to deliver depot KPI's
  • Ensure that all safety concerns and near misses are logged on Eco online and closed off within the company’s agreed timescales and quality feedback is provided to originators
  • Updating waller planner

What we're looking for
  • Essential:
    • Able to demonstrate an understanding of transport compliance and WTD
    • Good communication skills communicating with people of all levels including drivers, front line employees and customers
    • Ability to organise a busy workload and operate at a fast pace Working with a quality management system e.g. ISO Managing transport compliance. Experienced IT Skills, and the ability to adapt to Google operating systems
  • Desirable:
    • Previous experience operating within a similar industry; waste/transport/logistics
