At Leeds Federated were looking for a Service Charge Specialist to lead on all aspects of service charge delivery across the portfolio driving improved income performance to support our commitment to help people make a home.

You will develop effective costing and apportionment approaches monitor value for money and work collaboratively across teams and customer groups to ensure service charges are applied accurately and fairly.

What you’ll do
  • Lead the end-to-end service charge process including estimates, actuals and rent review activity
  • Ensure service charges are accurately costed, fairly apportioned and clearly evidenced
  • Review current practice to drive improvements in value for money and process consistency
  • Work closely with Development, Housing, Asset and Finance teams to support new and existing schemes
  • Ensure service charge data is accurate and maintained on housing systems
  • Lead or support Section 20 consultations in line with legal requirements
  • Work with internal teams and customers to explain service charges clearly and transparently
  • Attend estates for customer meetings, forums and consultation activities when required
  • Provide specialist advice on service charge legislation, regulation and compliance
What we’re looking for
  • Experience managing service charges, rent setting or income optimisation
  • Proven experience reviewing housing schemes to make sure service charges are correctly allocated and clearly communicated.
  • Working knowledge of rent and service charge regulatory standards, including Landlord & Tenant Act 1985 (Sections 1830), Leaseholder legislation and Section 20 consultation requirements
  • A strong track record of change delivery and embedding new ways of working
  • Strong financial analytical and reporting skills
  • Able to communicate clearly with colleagues and customers ensuring information is shared in an approachable way
