Job summary

Glen Callum Associates Ltd. is seeking an Operations Manager for a site-based role in West Bromwich to lead an automotive workshop. You’ll partner with senior leaders to ensure staffing, capacity and investment align with customer commitments.

Key responsibilities include planning capacity, improving processes, and driving performance while maintaining safety and compliance. A hands-on leader with a track record in vehicle operations is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience within vehicle maintenance, fleet services or commercial vehicle operations.
• Proven background in leading teams and managing performance.
• Technical background with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Budgets, forecasts and business-case development for investment.
• Strong understanding of operational compliance, workshop processes and Health & Safety.
• Proficiency with Excel and fleet management systems.
• Ability to influence people, drive change and align teams.
• Proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Forecast staffing, shift patterns and resource needs.
• Plan workshop capacity, tooling and equipment requirements.
• Support onboarding and readiness for new contracts.
• Drive performance and manage turnaround times.
• Own and improve operational systems and procedures.
• Ensure safety, compliance and audit readiness.
• Lead front-of-house and technician teams.
• Support recruitment and succession planning.
