VolkerFitzpatrick is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead and coordinate design activities for major water and wastewater infrastructure schemes across East Anglia. The role requires a strong background in civil engineering, design management and experience leading multidisciplinary teams.

The successful candidate will drive buildability, value engineering and effective stakeholder engagement to deliver projects from concept through delivery, within a collaborative and safety‑compliant

Qualifications

• Extensive experience within civil engineering, infrastructure or water sector projects.
• Strong background in Design Management on major projects.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
• Excellent understanding of buildability, design coordination and project delivery.
• Strong programme management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and value engineering.
• Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate all design activities across significant water and wastewater infrastructure schemes.
• Manage multidisciplinary design teams and external consultants.
• Ensure buildability, design coordination and timely delivery of design outputs.
• Engage with stakeholders to align design with project objectives and constraints.
