Job summary

Gist is recruiting a Warehouse Operations Manager for a senior leadership role at our Crewe site. You will lead large, frontline teams across a 24/7 operation, drive safety, productivity and cost targets, and partner with union representatives to maintain high standards.

You will report to the Assistant General Manager, shaping the operation as the business grows and evolves, with a focus on structured processes, continuous improvement and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Warehouse Operations Manager or similar in fast-moving warehouse/retail logistics.
• Strong leadership with end-to-end shift ownership in a high-volume environment.
• Experience managing large teams in a heavily unionised setting.
• Experience in FMCG/retail supply chains and distribution operations.
• Strong communication and collaboration across management teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead, engage and develop front-line management and operational teams to deliver a safe, efficient and high-performing warehouse operation.
• Own shift performance and contribute to site performance across 24-hour operations.
• Collaborate with other Warehouse Operations Managers to standardise processes and decisions.
• Ensure structured handovers between shifts to maintain operational continuity.
• Meet customer requirements for service, productivity and cost targets.
• Maintain high health and safety standards and compliance.
• Build relationships with stakeholders, customers and union reps.
• Drive continuous improvement and best practices across the operation.
