Job summary

InPost Distribution is seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to lead a high-volume parcel sortation depot in Yeovil. You will take ownership of daily despatch operations, drive continuous improvement, and develop a shift team to meet KPIs and customer expectations.

The role requires strong leadership, operational excellence, and a focus on safety and compliance. You will work closely with Depot and Regional management and be prepared to travel across the UK as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven extensive experience managing mechanical parcel sortation and process operations.
• Strong operational leadership skills with a track record of high performance.
• Experience in continuous improvement and implementing efficiency gains.
• Knowledge of Drivers’ Hours, Tachograph, and WTD legislation and compliance.
• Strong Health & Safety knowledge with practical application in fast-paced ops.
• Experience in budget management, KPI development, and performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Take full accountability for daily management and supervision of the despatch operation, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
• Lead, support, and develop the operations team, fostering continuous improvement and professional growth.
• Ensure the operation meets customer expectations and contract KPIs and targets.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to support operations.
• Ensure compliance with standards, focusing on Health & Safety and safe working environment.
• Collaborate with Regional/Depot Managers to achieve performance targets.
• Conduct regular team performance reviews and coordinate relevant training and development.
• Optimize deployment of drivers and vehicles to meet demand and maximise efficiency.
• Collect and report on performance data (MPG, tachographs, fuel, damage) for cost savings.
• Oversee site housekeeping and maintenance to keep depot safe and compliant.
• Be prepared to travel across the UK to support operations.
