Job summary

Coactive Care Ltd in Torquay is seeking a dedicated Waking Night Senior Health Care/Support Assistant to deliver safe, dignified care during the night at Georgian House.

You will lead a small night-time team, supervise shifts, oversee medication administration and help residents with personal care, maintaining high standards and responsive to emergencies.

The role requires a calm, organised communicator who can work flexibly, including weekends, with DBS check and references. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, organised and reliable; strong punctuality.
• Competent in medication administration.
• Proven experience leading a small team.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends.
• Confident communicator at all levels.
• Calm under pressure in challenging situations.
• Computer literate with report-writing skills.
• Experience with mental health/complex needs preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular supervisions and staff meetings.
• Oversee safe administration of medication.
• Support residents with personal care (bathing, toileting, getting up/dressed).
• Manage shifts to meet high-quality care and safety standards.
• Assist residents with evening routines and morning wake-ups.
• Respond to health needs or emergencies and administer medication if trained.
• Stay awake and conduct regular night checks with accurate records.
• Ensure rooms are clean, tidy and safe overnight.
• Perform domestic tasks (cleaning, laundry, ironing, breakfast trays).
• Follow policies to maintain a warm atmosphere for residents and colleagues.
