Job summary

Qualifications

• Proven senior underwriting experience across cross-class commercial lines.
• GWP authority of £10k+ or track record to progress to this level.
• Experience leading, coaching or mentoring underwriters.
• Ability to balance personal underwriting with people management.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex, higher-value commercial risks with authority to £10k+ GWP.
• Act as technical referral point for the team on complex cases.
• Maintain underwriting quality and consistency across cross-class commercial business.
• Direct line management of 3–4 underwriters.
• Day-to-day workload allocation and prioritisation; conduct regular 1-2-1s.
• Coach and mentor to develop underwriting capability and technical knowledge across the team.
