Job summary

Lawes Consulting Group is partnering with a rapidly expanding UK MGA to recruit an Underwriting Team Leader. The role leads a team of five underwriters, providing coaching, day-to-day direction, and performance management to meet underwriting and commercial targets.

You will also deliver technical underwriting support on complex cases, maintain high standards, and collaborate with senior management to drive growth of the underwriting function as the business expands.

Qualifications

• Experienced insurance professional with a strong underwriting background and proven leadership capability.
• Candidate could be an Underwriting Team Leader or a Senior Underwriter moving into management.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of five Underwriters.
• Conduct regular 1-to-1s and manage performance against objectives.
• Drive the team to achieve underwriting, productivity and commercial targets.
• Provide technical underwriting support and guidance on complex cases.
• Maintain high underwriting standards and ensure the team operates within appetite and authority.
• Identify training and development needs across the team.
• Work closely with senior management to support the company's ambitious growth strategy.
