Lawes Consulting Group in London seeks an experienced Commercial Underwriting Manager to lead the Property & Casualty underwriting function for a Lloyd's/London-market MGA. This senior role focuses on profitability, underwriting discipline, and mentoring a team of underwriters across a broad commercial book.

You will set guidelines, manage risk appetite, build broker relationships, and collaborate across actuarial, claims and finance to deliver data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of commercial underwriting experience with 2+ years in a managerial role.
• Proven track record in Property & Casualty underwriting and profitable books.
• Experience with broker relationships and market-facing activities.
• London market or Lloyd's environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the commercial P&C underwriting portfolio with profitability targets.
• Set underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing frameworks.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of underwriters.
• Build and maintain broker relationships to drive new business and retention.
• Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and finance for data-driven decisions.
• Monitor market trends and report performance to leadership.
