Job summary

Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils are seeking an experienced finance professional to join their Financial Services team. The role combines capital accounting with the treasury function, supporting budgets, cash flow management, and capital reporting.

You will work closely with the Principal Accountant to monitor budgets, capital programmes, and the year-end close while providing practical financial advice.

Qualifications

• AAT Level 4 qualified or part-qualified as an accountant.
• Experience in finance, with budget preparation, monitoring and year-end accounts.
• Ability to work independently and explain financial information clearly.
• Effective team member with attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
• Experience in treasury management or cash investment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day treasury and cash flow activities.
• Prepare cash-flow forecasts and place funds per approved arrangements.
• Support capital budgets and five-year capital programme.
• Assist with closure of capital accounts and Statement of Accounts.
• Complete capital-related government returns and VAT requirements.
• Provide financial advice to officers and liaise with auditors.
