Job summary

IonQ, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Transport Software team in our Oxford office.

You will collaborate with physicists to develop ion trap control software, guiding hundreds to thousands of ions in parallel using electromagnetic fields, to scale the computational capacity of our trapped-ion quantum computers. You will help shape the control software that underpins our most advanced quantum systems, working across runtime, real-time control, FPGA, and electronics teams to

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in a systems programming language.
• Experience with performance-sensitive computing.
• Ability to produce high-quality production code and collaborate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Build the framework translating high-level ion transport specs into voltage waveform data.
• Support transport waveform team with solvers and simulations.
• Collaborate with scientists to understand experiment and simulation needs.
• Design transport operations and how they are parametrised and calibrated.
• Interface with runtime, FPGA and electronics teams to shape system architecture.
