Job summary

IonQ in Oxford is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Transport Software team. You will work with physicists to develop ion trap control software and guide trajectories of ions to scale quantum computers, in a hybrid office setup.

You will build high-performance data pipelines, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to the framework that describes transport constraints and voltage waveforms for control systems.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in a systems language and performance-focused computing.
• Experience with Rust or C++.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Develop ion transport framework for describing constraints and translate into voltage waveform data for DAC channels.
• Collaborate with experimental and theoretical scientists to understand requirements for experiment and simulation.
• Design transport operations for quantum circuits and parameterisation/calibration.
• Interface with runtime, FPGA and electronics teams to shape the system architecture.
