Job summary

IonQ, Inc. in Oxford is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Transport Software team. You will work with physicists to develop ion trap control software, guiding thousands of ions in parallel to scale the computational capacity of our trapped-ion quantum computers.

Collaborate across FPGA, runtime, and electronics teams, build high-performance frameworks, and contribute to designing transport operations and calibrations for production systems.

Qualifications

• Experience with systems programming in Rust or C++.
• Strong performance-sensitive computing experience.
• Ability to collaborate with physicists and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Build framework transforming high-level ion transport specs into voltage waveform data.
• Support transport waveform team with solvers and physics simulations.
• Collaborate with experimental and theoretical scientists to understand requirements.
• Contribute to design of transport operations, parametrisation and calibration.
• Interface with runtime, FPGA and electronics teams to shape system architecture.
