Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd in Basingstoke seeks a Senior/Principal Transport Consultant to lead development planning projects through feasibility, assessment and approval stages. You will manage technical delivery, client relationships and project budgets while shaping future growth.

You will work with senior leadership and multi-disciplinary teams to guide transport planning inputs, prepare TA/STs/Travel Plans and mentor junior staff, with opportunities for professional accreditation and career

Qualifications

• 3–8 years' experience in transport planning consultancy or local authority development planning.
• Strong understanding of development-led transport planning principles.
• Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Environmental Statement Chapters.
• Proficiency in Junctions 10 and LinSig software.
• Knowledge of Manual for Streets, DMRB, LTN 1/20, Active Travel England guidance.
• Experience managing projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Confident client, developer and stakeholder engagement.
• Active pursuit of professional accreditation (TPS/CIHT/CILT).

Responsibilities

• Lead a wide variety of development planning projects from feasibility to planning approval.
• Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
• Provide technical input on highway design and sustainable transport solutions.
• Manage projects, programmes and budgets to ensure delivery.
• Coordinate with planners, engineers, architects and environmental consultants.
• Represent clients in meetings and negotiations with Highway Authorities.
• Develop fee proposals and support business development initiatives.
• Mentor Graduate, Assistant and Consultant team members.
