Job summary

Flex is seeking a Transport Logistics Team Leader to oversee UK transport operations from Kendal and collaborate with multiple facilities. You will manage storage, shipping and on‑time delivery, liaising with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to optimise the supply chain in line with compliance standards.

The role requires strong leadership in logistics, knowledge of road freight and import/export, and experience with ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA.

Qualifications

• Experience leading logistics, transportation, or distribution operations.
• Strong understanding of road freight and multimodal transportation.
• Knowledge of import/export processes, customs requirements, and international shipping regulations.
• Familiarity with trade compliance principles and Incoterms.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA).
• Strong analytical mindset with solid numerical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing transport operations, managing storage, shipping and delivery of finished goods or materials safely, accurately and on time for several facilities in the UK.
• Manage and liaise with suppliers, carriers, warehouse managers, production and Project Managers, to optimise supply chain performance from a cost, scheduling and on time delivery in line with Anord Mardix and Flex compliance and ethics standards.
• Performance Monitoring of Suppliers – Monitoring delivery times and transport costs, tracking KPIs and implementing improvements and efficiencies to ensure smooth transport flows
• Organise regular business reviews with the transport suppliers
• Ensure SOPs are in place for all transport suppliers
• Operational Oversight – Prioritise and manage day‑to‑day activities, including transport operations, ensuring safe and efficient handling, storage and timely dispatch and delivery of goods
• Manage track and trace of all shipments and maintain comprehensive shipment data
• Resolve and measure on time delivery issues and queries to ensure 100% POD performance
• Produce weekly/monthly reports as directed by management
• Implement and maintain high quality service levels to new and existing customers/transport lanes
• Manage freight cost and freight P+L – Monthly/quarterly/annually
• Responsible for freight cost forecasting for FOL
• Manage the freight bill and audit, cost allocation and payment process of transport invoices
• Liaising with transport teams, suppliers/vendors and internal departments, such as Planning, Production, Project Managers, Sales and Finance
