Job summary

WR Logistics in the Portsmouth area seeks a Senior Operations Manager to own and optimise a multi-department transport operation. You will lead teams across customer service, warehousing and shipping to deliver a consistent, efficient service with strong compliance and safety standards.

The role requires established leadership, deep knowledge of UK haulage and fleet management, and a proven ability to drive performance and cost control in a busy logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading multiple departments in transport/logistics.
• Strong knowledge of UK haulage, transport and fleet management.
• Driver CPC / Transport Manager CPC beneficial but not essential.
• Well-developed leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee multiple operational functions, including customer service, warehousing and shipping.
• Lead, motivate and develop departmental managers and their teams, driving accountability.
• Ensure transport and logistics activities run efficiently, safely and in line with legislation.
• Maintain understanding of fleet operations, vehicle compliance and road haulage challenges.
• Monitor performance, service levels and costs; identify opportunities to improve productivity and profitability.
• Build strong cross-department relationships and ensure joined-up operations.
