Job summary

AECOM in the UK is seeking a Senior Town Planner to join our national Planning team. You will handle a diverse workload on major infrastructure and local development projects, with hybrid working and base location flexibility across multiple offices including Plymouth.

You will lead coordination, provide planning advice, write planning statements, manage applications, and collaborate with environmental assessment teams and stakeholders, contributing to successful tenders and commercial outcomes.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable and relevant experience of working on planning applications.
• Sound knowledge of English planning policy and legislation.
• Ability to write clearly and concisely and discuss complex planning matters.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the successful delivery of major development applications and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams across various project types.
• Assisting with project management and implementing quality and health and safety principles.
• Providing planning advice to colleagues and clients on planning consent requirements and permitted development rights.
• Carrying out planning research and analysis and assisting with planning feasibility reports and consent strategies.
• Writing Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements for development applications.
• Leading, submitting, and managing planning applications, including liaison and negotiation with local planning authorities and other key stakeholders.
• Working closely with the Environmental Impact Assessment team and participating in meetings.
• Contributing to tenders and carrying out planning research and analysis for consent strategies.
