Job summary

SYSTRA Ltd in the UK seeks an experienced Principal Town Planner to shape project strategy, lead complex planning and consenting activity, and manage clients and delivery teams on major infrastructure projects.

You will mentor staff, drive quality and sustainability standards, secure statutory consents, and support growth through effective bid work and cross-disciplinary collaboration with Local Authorities, designers and contractors.

Qualifications

• Hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline.
• Be a Chartered member of RTPI or another relevant professional body.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, negotiation and client-facing skills.
• Show track record of leading complex planning and consenting projects and managing programmes.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex planning and consenting outcomes on time and within budget.
• Ensure technically sound planning and consenting solutions with reporting and cost estimating.
• Identify and deliver effective planning strategies for infrastructure projects.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to staff while developing the team.
• Build strong relationships with clients, Local Authorities and stakeholders.
• Secure statutory consents and coordinate applications and negotiations.
• Drive quality assurance and integration across multidisciplinary teams.
• Support bid activity and contribute to business growth.
