Job summary

SYSTRA Ltd is seeking a Senior Town Planner in the UK to lead projects, manage Consultants, Graduates and Apprentices, and ensure delivery within time and budget. The role requires strong communication, planning expertise, and a track record in multi-discipline project delivery.

You will contribute to winning work and uphold safety and quality standards while collaborating with clients and internal teams across the business.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to lead on projects and manage teams.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and regulations.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Experience in planning consultancy or local authority beneficial.
• Ability to manage budgets and timescales on multi-discipline projects.

Responsibilities

Job description

With ambitious growth plans, this is an exciting time to join SYSTRA Ltd as we continue to develop and raise our profile in the UK. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Town Planner to lead on project tasks and manage Consultants, Graduates and Apprentices within discipline (see accompanying addendum) in the efficient and effective delivery of client projects ensuring the needs of the Client and the business are met.

Missions / Main Duties

• To lead and contribute to projects, ensuring Client commitments are met, delivering against quality, time and budget
• Monitor project team performance against contractual obligations and quality, making appropriate corrective interventions
• Manage the checking and approval process to ensure compliance with both Client, project and SYSTRA processes. This includes the preparation and checking of engineering designs and calculations, taking responsibility for the management of design production
• Ensure project requirements are effectively communicated to the team
• Be expected to act as the Work Package Manager on small to medium sized projects
• Working knowledge with all technical standards relevant to your discipline
• Assist where required in work winning and marketing to maximise team and company opportunities
• Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by the operations of SYSTRA throughout design lifecycle.
• Compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental legislation relevant to your discipline.
• Contribute to company-wide goals and business improvement

Profile / Skills

• Demonstrable skills of effective communication across multiple levels and stakeholders to present and discuss proposals, justifications and conclusions
• Experience in working with offshore production centres is desirable
• Proficient working on multi-discipline projects
• Demonstrable experience of delivering business results through effective planning and implementation
• Experience of project planning, delivery, budgets and timescales
• Degree level or equivalent relevant to own discipline
• MRTPI qualified (or working towards chartership with significant relevant experience).
• Previous experience within a planning consultancy or local authority.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.

Working Environment

• SYSTRA provides a range of flexible working options, including hybrid working, balancing the benefits of working from home with time in our modern, well-equipped offices.
