Job summary

WSP in the United Kingdom seeks an experienced Senior Consultant to lead town planning and consenting inputs on major infrastructure projects. You will work within multi-disciplinary teams to secure consents under the Town and Country Planning Act and related regimes.

The role demands strong leadership, client liaison, complex negotiations with statutory bodies, and line management of junior staff. A degree in town planning and RTPI membership are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in town planning (or equivalent)
• RTPI membership is essential
• Experience leading town planning/consenting on major projects

Responsibilities

• Lead the town planning or consenting inputs on major infrastructure projects (DCOs, DNSs, TWAOs).
• Provide strong technical leadership and advise clients on consenting requirements.
• Coordinate preparation and submission of consent applications under relevant acts.
• Act as Project Director for Infrastructure Planning projects.
• Serve as Planning Expert Witness at examinations or hearings.
• Lead complex negotiations with statutory bodies and stakeholders.
• Demonstrate project financial awareness and management within a consultancy.
