Job summary

Catering in Colchester is seeking a Senior Thermal Mechanical Engineer to own thermal performance across complex electromechanical products from requirements through to prototype build, test and production support. This is a hands-on, end-to-end role that integrates design reviews with lab work and cross-functional collaboration.

You will typically have 5–10 years of hands-on experience in thermal electronics, be proficient in SolidWorks, and work in a hybrid setup with colleagues across PM,

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of thermal principles in electronics.
• Typically around 5–10 years of hands-on industry experience.
• Proven experience with SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing requirements and contributing to early system architecture discussions.
• Creating initial conceptual mechanical designs.
• Running detailed structural and thermal analysis (SolidWorks + Flow Simulation preferred).
• Presenting work at preliminary and critical design reviews.
• Managing projects independently while collaborating with PMs, hardware, software and manufacturing teams.
• Investigating production issues, quality problems and root causes under time pressure.
• Building, testing and debugging prototypes in the lab.
• Designing jigs, fixtures and producing assembly drawings with correct GD&T.
• Supporting new product introduction and exploring new thermal technologies.
