Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering seeks a Principal Temporary Works Engineer for the Leiston, Suffolk project on a 2-year fixed-term contract. You will coordinate the temporary works process, manage risks, and provide technical guidance to site and design teams, ensuring safe, compliant execution.

You will oversee design coordination with permanent works, review designs and RAMS/ITPs, and maintain robust temporary works documentation to support the construction programme.

Formación

• 5–7 years of relevant experience in temporary works and associated risk management.
• Ability to read, interpret and implement drawings, sketches and technical specifications.
• Identify where temporary works are required on site with an understanding of construction methods and loading constraints.
• Sound engineering judgement and independent decision-making under programme pressures.
• Awareness of technical limitations and when to seek expert support.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain the Temporary Works Register and track design, approvals and delivery against the programme.
• Coordinate with the client’s temporary works team and guide site teams.
• Prepare clear design briefs for temporary works requirements.
• Coordinate designs with permanent works and wider design/construction teams.
• Review outputs to meet briefs, programme and technical requirements.
• Communicate residual design risks and ensure controls are in place.
• Issue approved drawings, specs and change information to site teams.
• Maintain accurate temp works documentation in site systems.
• Review RAMS and ITPs to ensure controls and hold points.
• Oversee Temporary Works Supervisors and support specialist designs.
