Job summary

Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering in Leiston, Suffolk, is recruiting a Principal Temporary Works Engineer for the Sizewell C project. You will coordinate the temporary works process, maintain the temporary works register, and ensure designs are reviewed, approved and safely implemented on site.

With 5–7 years in temporary works, you will read drawings, assess risks, and guide site teams while coordinating with design and construction colleagues.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years in temporary works with strong engineering knowledge and risk awareness.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches and technical specs.
• Experience coordinating temporary works on live construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the Temporary Works Register, tracking design, approvals and delivery against the programme.
• Coordinate with the client’s temporary works management team and provide guidance to site teams.
• Identify and assess temporary works requirements and prepare clear design briefs.
• Coordinate temporary works designs with permanent works designers and wider teams.
• Review design outputs to ensure they meet the brief and technical requirements.
• Communicate residual design risks and confirm suitable controls.
• Issue approved drawings, specifications and change information to site teams.
• Maintain accurate temporary works documentation within site management systems.
• Review RAMS and ITPs, ensuring appropriate controls and hold points.
• Oversee Temporary Works Supervisors and support specialist designs.
