d3t Studio, part of Keywords Studios, is seeking a Senior Technical Artist for a 12-month fixed-term contract based in the UK. The role focuses on establishing art pipelines, tooling, and collaboration with artists to deliver high-quality game assets.

Hybrid working with three studio days per week is offered at our UK sites (Daresbury or Newcastle). You will mentor others, drive performance improvements, and stay current with industry tech.

Qualifications

• Enjoy the technical challenge of real-time game art and rendering techniques.
• Performance and quality focused.
• Proficient in Maya and/or 3DS Max with Python knowledge.
• Excellent communication and organisation within a multidisciplinary art team.
• Proven leadership in an intermediate art role.
• Strong knowledge of modern game engines (Unreal or Unity).
• Knowledge of Maya API, C++ or C# advantageous.
• Experience with Photoshop, Substance, Houdini and similar tools advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain project art pipelines from inception and throughout the project life-cycle.
• Support the art and animation team requirements and assist with resolving technical issues.
• Create and integrate in-house toolsets and materials/shaders
• Ensure artwork meets memory and frame-rate guidelines via performance profiling.
• Collaborate with artists to improve asset performance while maintaining visual fidelity.
• Be prepared to own specific features of the game when required.
• Adhere to naming conventions and texture layering guidelines.
• Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and share knowledge with the art team.
• Contribute tutorials and technical guides to improve the art pipeline.
