Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking an experienced Technical Author for a Bristol-based role within an innovative engineering business. You will own the creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of technical documentation across a diverse product portfolio.

Working with engineers and project teams, you will transform complex information into clear manuals, guides and procedures, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as Technical Author, Technical Writer or Engineering Documentation role.
• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, energy, aerospace, defence or similar technical environment.
• Ability to interpret technical information and communicate to different audiences.
• Experience producing technical manuals, work instructions, procedures or product documentation.

Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation including operating instructions, service manuals, technical guides and engineering procedures.
• Collaborate with engineering and project teams to gather, interpret and structure technical information for internal and external audiences.
• Create and modify technical illustrations, diagrams and visuals from CAD models and drawings.
• Develop documentation packages to support product releases, engineering changes and ongoing product support activities.
• Review existing documentation and implement improvements to enhance clarity, consistency and usability.
• Manage document revisions, approvals and version control processes.
• Ensure documentation complies with company standards, quality requirements and industry regulations.
• Support knowledge-sharing initiatives by documenting engineering processes and workflows.
• Maintain accurate document libraries and controlled technical records.
• Liaise with technical stakeholders to ensure documentation remains current and aligned with product developments.
