Job summary

AXA UK in Ipswich is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant to support the Statutory Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager, delivering statutory accounts for AXA UK entities and technical papers across UK GAAP and IFRS. You will provide independent checks on balance sheet reconciliations, advise on insurance and reinsurance accounting, and help drive audits and IFRS reporting.

The role offers hybrid work with two days remote per week, expanding to three days from December 2026, and requires

Qualifications

• Knowledge of IFRS, FRS 101, and FRS 102.
• Experience with independent financial audits and reconciliations.
• Ability to work independently and communicate technical accounting issues clearly.
• Insurance/reinsurance knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation of statutory financial accounts for AXA UK entities.
• Prepare technical accounting papers on key topics.
• Investigate, interpret and implement appropriate accounting treatments with sign-off from AXA Group and external auditors.
• Provide technical advice and training to Finance teams and other business areas.
• Assist in delivery of independent audits of balance sheet reconciliations across entities.
• Ensure documentation for IFC scope processes is complete and maintained.
• Build relationships within a large matrixed organisation to understand accounting complexities.
• Demonstrate understanding of accounting for insurance, reinsurance, and investment businesses.
