Job summary

Opus People Solutions is assisting a leading insurer in Ipswich to recruit a Senior Technical Accountant to join their established Finance function. You will deliver statutory and technical accounting across a complex group structure and support external audits.

The role suits fully qualified accountants with IFRS/UK GAAP expertise, strong reporting experience, and the ability to communicate technical matters clearly within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with strong financial accounting experience.
• Experience in statutory and financial reporting for insurers or financial services.
• Good knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP (FRS 101/102).
• Experience with audits and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ability to communicate technical accounting clearly to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory financial accounts in accordance with relevant standards.
• Prepare technical accounting papers across key audit and reporting matters.
• Research new and emerging technical accounting issues and determine appropriate treatment.
• Collaborate with external auditors and internal stakeholders to support audit clearance.
• Provide technical accounting guidance to Finance teams.
• Support independent reviews of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure relevant controls, processes and documentation are maintained.
• Build relationships across a large, matrix organisation.
• Develop knowledge across insurance, reinsurance and investment activities.
