Job summary

Schools’ Choice is recruiting a Senior Technical Accountant in Ipswich to support statutory and technical accounting across a complex group structure within a regulated environment. You will work with external auditors and internal stakeholders, prepare statutory financial statements, and develop accounting papers on technical matters, IFRS and UK GAAP knowledge essential.

Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA candidates with strong audit, reporting and reconciliation experience are encouraged to apply,

Qualifications

Fully qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with strong grounding in financial and technical accounting.
Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or wider financial services.
Strong statutory and financial reporting experience.
Proficient in IFRS and UK GAAP, including FRS 101 and FRS 102.
Experience with financial audit and balance sheet reconciliations.

Responsibilities

Supporting the preparation of statutory financial accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards.
Supporting the preparation of technical accounting papers across key audit and reporting matters.
Researching and interpreting new and emerging technical accounting issues and helping determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
Working closely with external auditors and internal stakeholders to support successful audit clearance.
Providing technical accounting guidance and support to wider Finance teams.
Supporting independent reviews of balance sheet reconciliations.
Ensuring relevant financial controls, processes and documentation are appropriately maintained.
Building effective relationships across a large, matrix organisation.
Developing knowledge of accounting requirements across insurance, reinsurance and investment activities.
