Job summary

Carrington West is looking for an Associate Director to lead the Transmission & Distribution design team in Manchester, delivering major UK power infrastructure. You will provide technical and operational leadership across substations, transmission and distribution projects, while mentoring engineers and coordinating with clients and stakeholders.

The role offers a hybrid working pattern (3 days per week in the office) and a salary of £70,000 plus a £6,900 car allowance, with benefits.

Qualifications

• Strong background within Transmission & Distribution design.
• Experience leading engineering/design teams.
• Experience in grid-based, regulated or utility environments.
• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and deliverables.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational leadership across a portfolio of Transmission & Distribution projects.
• Oversee engineering/design package delivery and design quality.
• Mentor and develop engineering teams and resources.
• Coordinate with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
