Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an Associate Director for Transmission & Distribution design in the East Midlands. The role combines technical delivery leadership across substations, transmission and distribution networks with client liaison and team development.

Hybrid work includes three days in the office weekly. You will oversee engineering and design packages, mentor teams, support resource planning and governance, and help grow the T&D business while ensuring project performance and high design

Qualifications

• Strong background within Transmission & Distribution design.
• Experience leading engineering or design teams.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous.

£70,000 + £6,900 Car Allowance + Benefits

Want to take a senior leadership role within a growing Transmission & Distribution design team delivering major UK power infrastructure projects? Our client is looking for an experienced Associate Director to help lead and develop its T&D design capability, supporting projects across substations, transmission, distribution and wider grid infrastructure.

Job Role

• As Associate Director, you will take a senior role within the design team, providing technical and operational leadership across a portfolio of Transmission & Distribution projects.
• You will oversee the delivery of engineering and design packages, support project and programme performance, manage and mentor engineering teams, and work closely with clients and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• The role will also involve supporting resource planning, technical governance, design quality and the continued growth of the T&D business.

Requirements

• Strong background within Transmission & Distribution design
• Ideally 5 years' post graduate engineering experience, although this is flexible for the right candidate
• Experience working within a grid-based, regulated or utility environment
• Previous experience leading or managing engineering/design teams
• Strong understanding of power infrastructure projects including substations, transmission or distribution networks
• Ability to manage multiple engineering projects and technical deliverables
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards Chartership would be advantageous
• This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior engineer or design leader looking to step into an Associate Director position with responsibility for both technical delivery and team development.

Salary, package and development

• £70,000 (DOE), possible flex for the right candidate
• £6,900 Car Allowance
