Job summary

Expleo Group in Crawley is seeking an experienced Systems Architect to join our growing engineering team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on defining architectures for complex systems and subsystems within a defence and aerospace programme, including Uncrewed Autonomous Air Systems.

You will balance stakeholder expectations, technical requirements, cost, risk and schedule while guiding co-engineering activities and lifecycle support across a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in an Engineering or Scientific discipline.
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
• Ability to operate confidently with customers and senior technical stakeholders.
• Familiarity with Uncrewed Autonomous Air Systems and domain concepts.
• Strong understanding of requirements management, system performance and interfaces.
• Operational concepts and operational analysis.
• Systems technical strategy.
• Co-engineering and collaborative engineering approaches.
• Lean Thinking and Obeya methodologies.
• Systems thinking and stakeholder analysis.
• Concept, design, experimentation and simulation tools.
• Systems modelling tools and frameworks.
• IVVQ (Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification)
• Iterative and Agile engineering methodologies.
• Systems engineering lifecycle processes.

Responsibilities

• Define and recommend candidate architectures for systems and subsystems to satisfy stakeholder expectations.
• Establish solution architectures balancing needs, technical solutions, cost, risk and schedule.
• Produce and maintain architecture artefacts such as PBS and design documents.
• Review and approve lower-level specifications and support lifecycle.
• Lead co-engineering approaches and manage requirement allocations.
• Drive system performance evaluation and interface definitions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams using iterative and Agile methods.
• Support operational analysis and development of operational concepts.
• Engage with customers to communicate solutions and influence architectural decisions.
