Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd. in Exeter seeks a Senior Surveyor to lead the commercial function on a major asset management contract, delivering contractual and financial objectives and ensuring job security in a stable environment.

You will guide a high-performing team, influence decisions, and use advanced Excel to analyse SOR codes, drive cost savings, and maintain strong client relationships through proactive risk and opportunity management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in commercial management within property services or construction.
• Advanced Excel skills and data manipulation for cost-saving opportunities.
• Knowledge of SOR codes and cost control is beneficial.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and inspire a high-performing commercial team delivering objectives.
• Own and influence the commercials of a long-standing asset contract.
• Manage and resolve commercial conflicts while protecting company interests.
• Provide accurate forecasting and reporting with transparency.
• Interrogate data with advanced Excel to spot savings and efficiencies.
• Conduct regular commercial reviews and prepare detailed packs with Senior Leadership.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and inspire a high-performing commercial team, ensuring delivery of contractual and financial objectives.
• Own and have influence on the commercials of a long-standing asset management contract, through strategic decision-making and proactive risk/opportunity management.
• Manage and resolve commercial conflicts, safeguarding the company’s interests while maintaining strong client relationships.
• Provide accurate forecasting and reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability in all commercial activities to explain, justify, and influence decisions.
• Interrogate and manipulate data with advanced Excel skills to analyse SOR codes, identifying cost-saving opportunities and delivering efficiencies across the contract.
• Conduct regular commercial reviews and compile detailed commercial packs with Senior Leadership.
• Collaborate with operational teams to align commercial strategies with service delivery goals.
• Champion continuous improvement, using insights from data to optimise processes and enhance performance.

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience in commercial management, ideally within property services or construction.
• Advanced Excel skills, you’re an Excel ninja who loves drilling into data.
• Ideally, but not essential, in-depth knowledge of SOR codes and cost control.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence, negotiate, and resolve commercial conflicts.
