Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our Capital works division, covering Cheltenham and the South Cotswolds. You will actively tender, estimate and measure on site, ensuring cost control from early planning through contract delivery.

You will build strong client and supplier relations, manage procurement using COINS, prepare weekly cost reports, and produce monthly valuations. The role demands proven experience and a collaborative, proactive approach.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in quantity surveying and project surveying.
  • Experience of successfully managing a value of works up to £3 million.
  • Ability to tender, estimate and measure on site with attention to risk and value.

Responsibilities

  • Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting risks and mitigation.
  • Prepare budget cost value reconciliations and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Contracts Manager to set productivity targets and contract milestones before start.
  • Build strong client and supplier relations to progress variations and contract performance.
  • Use COINS for purchase, credit and debtor management to support cash flow.
  • Produce weekly site cost reports with labour rates, progress and safety data.
  • Prepare monthly contract valuations.

We're lookingfor a Quantity Surveyor to join us on our Capital (Planned Works/ Refurbishment) contracts in Cheltenham and the South Cotswolds.

The Quantity Surveyor role:

As a Quantity Surveyor within our Capital works division, you willactively tender, estimate and measure onsite. Specifically, you will:

  • Measure and prepare cost estimates for contracts and tenders, highlighting any risks and solutions for mitigating these.
  • Prepare budget cost value reconciliations, identifying commercial risks and opportunities to ensure correct contract planning from the beginning.
  • Work closely with the Contracts Manager to ensure productivity targets and contract milestones are agreed and issued before contract start, including direct labour incentives.
  • Build strong client and supplier relations, to ensure any variations and the progress of contracts are discussed and resolved proactively.
  • Take purchase, credit and debtor responsibility using COINS to achieve expected cash flow.
  • Complete and analyse weekly reporting from site has adequate cost information (including labour rates and performance exceptional to budget, value, progress, quality, and safety)
  • Produce monthly contract valuations.
