Job summary

Active Care Group seeks an experienced Senior Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant for our Hothfield Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre in Kent. You will support adults with brain injury or neurological conditions, lead care planning, and supervise a team to ensure high‑quality, individualised care.

Role is on-site in Kent, 37.63 hours for a full-time equivalent with a rota. Requires Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care or willingness to work towards it; experience in PBS and

Come and join one of the UK’s largest providers in complex care.We have an amazing opportunity for a Senior Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant to join our caring and support team at our Hothfield Brain Injury Rehabilitation and Neurological Care Centre, our specialist centre in Kent, we look after adults with a brain injury or other neurological condition.Set within the 12 acre grounds of a manor house, we specialise in intensive rehabilitation for people in the early stages of recovery from a brain injury right through to residential care.What you'll be working:Location: HothfieldHours: 37.63 - FTEOn site role - Working on a rota basisSalary: £27,882.02 (FTE) per annum, pro rataWhat you'll be doing:Providing a safe, caring, and supportive environment for adults with diverse needs, including those with mental health conditions, rehabilitation requirements, or complex care needs.Building positive relationships with adults in care, supporting their emotional well-being and promoting independence.Supporting and supervising care colleagues to deliver high-quality, person-centred care, including organising and delegating tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.Acting as a role model by demonstrating professional conduct, upholding best practices, and promoting the organisation’s values.Assisting in the development, implementation, and regular review of individualised care plans, monitoring progress, and adapting support as necessary.Ensuring that care plans are tailored to meet the specific needs, preferences, and goals of each adult receiving care.Ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures to protect adults from harm and promote their rights.Providing guidance and support to care workers, including coaching on managing challenging behaviours and crisis situations using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.Conducting regular supervision and performance reviews for team members, supporting their professional development and well-being.Assisting with daily living activities such as meal preparation, personal care, medication prompts, and engagement in meaningful activities.Maintaining accurate records of daily care, incidents, and progress reports using organisational systems.Organising and supervising recreational, therapeutic, and community activities that promote social inclusion and holistic well-being.Collaborating closely with other care staff, healthcare professionals, social workers, therapists, and external agencies to ensure coordinated support.Attending training, team meetings, and supervision sessions to continually develop skills and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Supporting new team members during induction and fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture.Ensuring that all information concerning adults in care is handled with strict confidentiality in accordance with data protection policies and regulations.Maintain their own training compliance with and ensure they are up to date with regulatory standards.Adherence to all Group policies and procedures and ensuring that all colleagues in the service are aware of and understand company policies.What you'll have:Experience in supervising or guiding care staff, contributing to shift coordination, care planning, and maintaining high care standards.Previous experience working with adults in residential, care, rehabilitation, or supported living settings. Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, mental health conditions, or physical disabilities is particularly valuable.Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (or equivalent) is essential; or a willingness to work towards it.Experience in behaviour management and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), including de-escalation strategies and supporting individuals with behaviours that challenge.A solid understanding of adult safeguarding, including relevant legislation such as the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act, and knowledge of how to respond to concerns or disclosures appropriately.Strong knowledge of confidentiality, professional boundaries, and data protection in line with GDPR and CQC standards.Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise responsibilities, complete documentation accurately, and support service delivery effectively.We also want to ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable facilities to participate in job applications or interviews to perform essential job functions.
