Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer in Scotland to lead critical electricity transmission projects. The role involves shaping technically complex AC infrastructure and supporting Scotland’s transition to Net Zero across Island projects.

You will review and drive substation designs up to 400kV, provide senior technical input, and lead engineering decisions while coaching Project Engineers and coordinating with consultants and contractors for high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Substation, transmission or complex electrical infrastructure design experience.
• Understand engineering standards and CDM guidelines and how they apply to major projects.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborative approach with colleagues, consultants and partners.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve up to 400kV substation designs across development and delivery.
• Provide senior technical input into engineering decisions and risk management.
• Influence solutions across the project portfolio through collaboration.
• Provide technical leadership and coaching to Project Engineers.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors and supply-chain partners to ensure quality outcomes.
