Job summary

Metlen Energy & Metals seeks a Subcontracts Supervisor based in Torness, Scotland, to join the EGL1 Contracts & Commercial department within the Thermal Power & HVDC division. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s preferred.
• 5–10 years of contracts management experience in EPC/construction/energy.
• Proven experience drafting, negotiating, administering subcontracts.
• Solid understanding of NEC, FIDIC, or equivalent contracts.
• Experience managing full subcontract lifecycle from tender to close-out.
• Strong commercial risk management and cost control knowledge.
• Experience in multinational, cross-functional project environments.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to operate in fast-paced, site-based environments with tight deadlines.
• Fluency in English; additional languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and administer contracts to maximize commercial benefits.
• Manage schedule performance and progress measurement.
• Manage multiple contracts and coordinate with site teams.
• Ensure contracts comply with legal/regulatory requirements in energy sector.
• Support Senior Project Leadership on contract execution, amendments, close-out.
• Identify and mitigate contractual risks to prevent disputes and losses.
• Monitor contract performance; ensure obligations and timelines.
• Handle claims, variations, and dispute resolution with leadership.
• Act as key point of contact for contractual matters.
• Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to secure favourable terms.
• Support procurement teams in supplier evaluations and selection.
