Senior Structural Engineer

Salary up to £55k (DOE)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced structural engineer seeking a new challenge! Joining our existing team at a senior level, you will play a key role in business development as the practice grows.

Working predominantly in the residential and commercial sectors on a variety of projects, you will utilize your existing experience and gain comprehensive understanding and involvement in all aspects of our developing business. You will also benefit from established infrastructure and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project review, fee proposal, and tender document preparation for prospective clients in domestic and commercial sectors.
2. Conduct inspections of existing buildings and site visits before and during construction to ensure design compliance and suitability for conversion.
3. Oversee project delivery, budgeting, invoicing, and client management.
4. Act as technical lead, guiding and mentoring the team.
5. Work with the Business Development Director to foster relationships with new and existing design practices, contractors, and domestic inquiries to secure future projects.
6. Assist with marketing, HR, and recruitment activities as needed.

The Right Person

The ideal Senior Structural Engineer will have:

1. A suitable engineering degree (MEng/BEng) in structural engineering, with senior engineer or associate experience, and working towards chartership with IStructE.
2. Proven technical expertise in delivering projects from concept to tender stage.
3. Confidence in managing teams, delegating tasks, and verifying technical work to meet project scope and quality standards.
4. Experience as the principal contact for structural engineering design projects.
5. Excellent knowledge of engineering practices, techniques, procedures, and structural principles.
