The purpose:

To assist the Discipline Lead in delivering the structural engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost.

Responsible for managing the technical deliverables of the structural engineering packages in line with the planned deliverables agreed by the Discipline Lead.

The post operates as part of the Major Infrastructure Projects Business Unit.

Principal Tasks and Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare and/or check designs, analyses, reports, drawings, specifications, and other documents supporting Nuclear and Non-Nuclear related plant, facility, and equipment within the company's licensed, authorized, and operational sites, or in support of external contracts.
  2. Participate in solving technical issues and developing new designs.
  3. Support review and approval of new designs, construction methodologies, and temporary works submitted to the Technical Authority.
  4. Complete design work packages as appointed by Lead Civil Engineer.
  5. Supervise and guide junior staff on-the-job.
  6. Utilize Learn from Experience data to develop practical engineering knowledge and document skill development.
  7. Support development, construction, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities to comply with design intent, DNSP's standards for Nuclear Works, and relevant regulations.
  8. Assist in on-site inspection of assets for construction, maintenance, and modifications.
  9. Maintain familiarity with DRDL procedures used within Facilities Engineering.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
  • Design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building structures to seismic codes for Nuclear Safety; experience with dock structures preferred.
  • Knowledge of architectural design of industrial buildings.
  • Knowledge of building services design and installation.
  • Understanding of construction techniques for Nuclear Safety-related structures and buildings.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design and safety practices relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, design, and quality procedures.
  • A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council or working towards chartership.
