About the Role – We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join the Newcastle Office. This opportunity is ideal for someone with significant experience as a Senior Structural Engineer within a consultancy environment. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in one of the UK’s leading private Engineering Consultancies, providing integrated solutions for a range of public and private clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Managing UK-based projects, in accordance with UK Building Regulations and other relevant UK standards, across sectors such as industrial, residential, retail, commercial, and healthcare.
• Liaising with and leading other members of the design team to achieve a coordinated design solution that meets the clients' objectives.
• Conducting structural engineering assessments and inspections of new and existing properties in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
• Using software packages including Tekla Structural Designer and Tedds for analysis and design.
• Maintaining quality and consistency of technical output (drawings, reports, etc.).
• Managing multiple projects of varying sizes with attention to detail.
• Preparing high-quality technical reports, including structural surveys.
• Demonstrating effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Having experience with Eurocodes and relevant design codes and standards.
• Promoting the company internally and representing Fairhurst at external networking and social events.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Chartered or near Chartered status (MICE or MIStructE)
• Experience with various construction types and building sectors
• Excellent report writing, communication, and numerical skills
• Previous UK consultancy experience
• Full clean driving license
