Cadillac Formula 1 Team at Silverstone is seeking a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer to advance high-performance racing car structures through detailed simulations and FEA.

You will lead analyses across critical systems, develop load cases, mentor juniors, and collaborate with design to optimize weight, stiffness, and safety while adhering to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Expert in finite element analysis and hand calculations.
  • Experience with HyperWorks and Abaqus.
  • Composite material analysis and optimisation experience.
  • Automation scripting in Python or TCL.
  • Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural simulations and optimisations across critical car systems.
  • Perform advanced structural analyses (linear/nonlinear, buckling, fatigue, optimisations).
  • Conduct composite structure analyses with laminate theory.
  • Collaborate with design groups to refine load paths and design evolution.
  • Define and validate structural load cases; prepare technical reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and improve analysis workflows.

You will play a key role in the development of high-performance racing car structures through detailed structural simulations, finite element analyses (FEA), and advanced optimisation techniques.This role offers the opportunity to shape the structural integrity and performance of components and assemblies across the race car platform, contributing directly to on-track success. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and bring your expertise to bear on a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.- Lead structural simulations and optimisations across critical car systems to ensure weight-efficient, robust, and high-performing designs- Perform advanced structural analyses using industry-leading software (linear/nonlinear, buckling, fatigue and optimisations) as well as conventional hand calculation methods- Conduct composite structure analyses, leveraging deep understanding of laminate theory, ply-level failure criteria, and manufacturing constraints- Collaborate closely with design groups to challenge concepts, refine load paths, and influence design evolution from concept through to track deployment- Define, scrutinise, and validate structural load cases, ensuring alignment with regulatory compliance- Prepare high-quality documentation and present findings in technical reviews, ensuring clear communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders- Lead initiatives to improve analysis workflows, enhance modelling accuracy, and support the development of best practices within the Structure group- Mentor and supervise junior and graduate structural engineers, fostering technical growth and analytical rigourRequirementsWhat do we need from you?- Degree (BSc/MSc/PhD) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline- Expert in finite element and conventional hand calculation methods, with advanced proficiency in HyperWorks and/or Abaqus- Strong experience with composite material analysis and optimisation techniques- Proficient in CAD-FEA integration, automation scripting (e.g., Python, TCL), and handling complex load case environments- Knowledge of, fatigue, and damage tolerance desirable- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to influence cross-functional design decisions- Strong organisational skills with a proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented mindset- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, open, and collaborative team environmentA team like no other.The Cadillac Formula 1 Team challenges conventions and redefines success through bold ambition, cutting-edge innovation, and an unwavering commitment to precision and excellence—on and off the track.
