Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking an experienced HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist with a focus on Learning Disabilities to join a fully integrated MDT and deliver patient-centred care. The base location is Drumchapel, with a permanent, full-time contract and a 9am-5pm, 5 days per week pattern.

The role offers training, supervision from an Advanced Practitioner, and opportunities for CPD within a supportive NHS framework, including a comprehensive employee welfare

Qualifications

• HCPC registration as a Speech and Language Therapist.
• Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities.
• Knowledge and skills in the assessment and management of dysphagia.
• Experience utilising and implementing AAC systems and strategies.
• Ability to advise, support, and train others in communication support techniques.
• Commitment to continuing professional development, with advanced CPD opportunities available.
• Support and supervision from an Advanced Practitioner within the service.

Responsibilities

• Provide communication support and intervention as part of an established MDT.
• Assess and manage eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).
• Utilise and implement Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies.
• Advise and deliver training on communication support approaches.
• Support individuals with learning disabilities during periods of transition and challenge.
• Work collaboratively with MDT colleagues to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
