Platinum Recruitment Consultancy Ltd in Fareham is seeking an experienced Sous Chef for a fresh-food bistro. The role offers a £35,360 annual salary, a 40-hour week, and rota-based shifts, typically 08:00-16:00 or 13:00-21:00, with weekends and Bank Holidays as required.

You will support a Head Chef and help develop the kitchen team in a central Fareham location. You’ll bring leadership, strong cooking skills, and a passion for quality dishes, working alongside a Chef de Partie to maintain high

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior kitchen position.
• Experience working in a fresh-food restaurant or bistro environment.
• Strong cooking skills and a passion for producing quality dishes.
• The ability to support and develop other members of the kitchen team.
• Excellent organisation and time management.
• A good understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain high standards.
• A positive, reliable and hands-on approach.
• Flexibility to work Wednesday to Sunday, including weekends and Bank Holidays where required.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Preparing and delivering fresh, high-quality dishes across breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Working closely with the Chef de Partie to maintain consistent food standards.
• Supporting, training and motivating the wider kitchen team.
• Helping develop menus and improve kitchen operations where required.
• Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Monitoring stock levels, assisting with ordering and minimising food waste.
• Ensuring the kitchen is organised and ready for each service.
• Maintaining high standards during busy services while keeping the team motivated.
