Job summary

Platinum Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Sous Chef in Fareham for a fresh-food bistro, offering a salary of £35,360 per year and a 40-hour week.

You will support the Head Chef, lead the kitchen team, help develop menus and ensure high standards of food quality and safety across breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Qualifications

• Experience as Sous Chef or in a senior kitchen position.
• Experience in a fresh-food restaurant or bistro environment.
• Strong cooking skills and a passion for producing quality dishes.
• Ability to support and develop other members of the kitchen team.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Preparing and delivering fresh, high-quality dishes across breakfast, lunch and dinner
• Working closely with the Chef de Partie to maintain consistent food standards
• Supporting, training and motivating the wider kitchen team
• Helping develop menus and improve kitchen operations where required
• Maintaining excellent food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Sous Chef to join a welcoming bistro in central Fareham. Serving fresh food across breakfast, lunch and dinner, this is an exciting opportunity to work alongside an established Head Chef and Chef de Partie, helping to maintain high standards and support the continued development of the kitchen.

With a 40-hour working week and a rota-based shift pattern, this role offers variety throughout the week. The central location also makes it a convenient option for those relying on public transport.

Key Responsibilities

As Sous Chef, you’ll play an important role in supporting the Head Chef and ensuring the smooth running of the kitchen. Your responsibilities will include:

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a confident, hands‑on Chef who enjoys working with fresh food and can bring strong leadership skills to an established kitchen team. Ideally, you’ll have:

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior kitchen position
• Experience working in a fresh‑food restaurant or bistro environment
• Strong cooking skills and a passion for producing quality dishes
• The ability to support and develop other members of the kitchen team
• Excellent organisation and time management
• A good understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
• The ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain high standards
• A positive, reliable and hands‑on approach
• Flexibility to work Wednesday to Sunday, including weekends and Bank Holidays where required
