Job summary

Midford Manor Care Home in Bath is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to work with our Head Chef, delivering restaurant‑quality dining for residents using fresh, seasonal ingredients and maintaining high culinary standards in a warm, family‑run environment.

The role is full-time with a 4 days on / 3 days off rota, 10‑hour shifts, alternate weekends, no late evenings and no split shifts. Overtime is paid at £16.50 per hour, and there is a £5,000 joining bonus.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sous Chef or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety.
• Experience with menu planning and kitchen budgeting.
• Experience with fresh produce and seasonal ingredients.

Responsibilities

• Support Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Lead kitchen team in Head Chef's absence.
• Prepare and cook high-quality, nutritious meals.
• Assist with menu planning and development.
• Manage stock levels and control budgets.
• Maintain HACCP and food hygiene standards.
• Conduct quality and compliance checks.
• Engage with residents to understand dining preferences.
