Job summary

Darnford Rose Care Home is seeking a passionate Sous Chef to join our catering team. Working alongside our Head Chef, you will prepare nutritious meals for residents, ensure high hygiene standards and contribute to an enjoyable dining experience.

The role is full-time, 38 hours per week, with a competitive hourly rate of £15.00 per hour. We welcome experienced cooks and those looking to progress in a caring, kitchen-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Cook or Sous Chef or similar catering role.
• Holds Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, or willing to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety.
• Confident preparing fresh, nutritious meals to high standards.
• Organised, reliable and able to work in a busy kitchen.
• Team player with good communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present nutritious meals to a high standard.
• Support Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Ensure meals meet residents' dietary and cultural needs.
• Assist with menu planning and meal service.
• Help with stock control and reduce waste.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report issues.
