Job summary

Databricks in London is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to win new digital-native logos in the UK & Ireland by hands-on demonstrations of the Data Intelligence Platform. You will work with customers to run PoCs, showcase data engineering, ML, and Generative AI workloads, and partner with account teams to articulate value.

The role reports to the Manager, Field Engineering, and requires regular London-based collaboration with travel north of 20–30% within UK&I.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in technical pre-sales, consultancy, or engineering.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Scala, or Java and a willingness to learn Spark.
• Familiarity with modern data engineering, streaming, ML, or Generative AI.
• Experience with the modern data stack and open-source data tooling plus major public cloud.
• Designing and delivering proofs-of-concept (PoCs).
• Interest in AI-based development tooling such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Databricks Assistant/Genie.

Responsibilities

• Partner with an Account Executive and a Senior Solutions Architect to win new logos across the UK & Ireland territory, and own the technical win.
• Run hands-on evaluations and PoCs against real data and workloads to excite CTOs and lead engineers.
• Engage technical buyers across data engineering, ML, and Generative AI, integrating with cloud/open-source stacks.
• Move at start-up speed: qualify quickly, prove value early, and enable expansion.
• Make the technical and commercial case against competing tools and hyperscalers.
• Demonstrate Builder Culture with AI tooling to inspire customers on the art of the possible.
• Contribute to Databricks' technical community with collateral and workshops.
• Develop technically and in pre-sales toward independent Solutions Architect responsibilities.
