Job summary

Wise is a global technology company focused on moving and managing money with minimal fees and maximum ease. As a Senior Product Engineer in Europe Risk & Controls, you will own core risk architecture, building high-throughput engines for real-time AML and fraud prevention across Europe and the UK.

You will work closely with Product, Compliance, and Data Science to translate regulatory complexity into performant code, mentor engineers, and define the technical strategy for distributed

Qualifications

• 7+ years of deep Java expertise leveraging Spring Boot.
• Hands-on experience building event-driven architectures with Kafka and SQL.
• Direct end-to-end execution-owning systems from initial design to live production metrics.
• Ability to translate complex distributed architecture concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience with modern continuous integration and deployment pipelines.
• Prior experience in AML, KYC, or fraud prevention is a plus.

Responsibilities

• System Architecture: Design and scale distributed systems powering customer due diligence (CDD/EDD) and fincrime detection.
• Technical Leadership: Set technical strategy, make critical architectural calls, and mentor senior talent.
• Domain Impact: Partner with Product, Compliance, and Data Science to translate regulatory complexity into high-performance code.
